Weekend Recap
By Bloggaman | May 5, 2008
Today I decided to recap the weekend because there were a number of things of interest that happened this weekend. I want things to be timely so I thought I would do one article on all of them.
- Barack Obama wins Guam by 7 votes. Each candidate picks up two delegates. How many people actually knew Guam voted? There haven’t been many times in the past where most of the states voting have been in the spotlight.
- Big Brown wins Derby, runner-up euthanized. That was actually the headline when I first saw the news. If you didn’t follow horse racing you might think there wasn’t much tolerance for losing. Sadly though, Eight Belles, was put down after break both front ankles.
- Austrian man keep daughter locked up for 24-years, commits incest. The daughter is now 42. Her mom thought she ran away at age 18. The whole family was afraid to ask questions. This is one of the most disturbing stories I have ever heard.
- Microsoft drops bid for Yahoo!. After three months of being in the news, Microsoft decided to drop the bid for Yahoo. Microsoft had even raised their offer to $47.5 billion but Yahoo stood firm on wanting $53 billion. Microsoft had even mentioned a hostile takeover bid but that seems to be over now too.
- NFL Star Arrested For Boating While Intoxicated. I saw that headline and being a Bears fan thought to myself, Cedric Benson a star? I don’t think the writer of that story has seen Benson play.
Big news coming tomorrow too. North Carolina and Indiana go to the polls and hopefully the Democratic race becomes even clearer. Have a nice Monday everyone.
