Spam Is 30 Years Old?

I saw an article yesterday on Yahoo! and I was shocked that spam email was actually that old. I have included an excerpt from the very first spam email. You can see the entire email in the article on Yahoo.

Now you look at that email and think to yourself, if they were only that tame nowadays. A lot of the spam I receive goes directly to the SPAM folder or the Junk Mail folder but I occasionally get one that sneaks through. What surprised me is how bad they are. How can someone honestly want to click on one of these cheesy emails? I have included a few of the spam emails I have received just in the last day. (Note: I have removed the links so no one accidentally clicks on one of them)

That is just five spam emails of probably 500 a week I receive. Male enhancement, watches, prescription drugs and online degrees based on life experience. Others you might see include work from home scams and quick debt solutions. There are many more beyond that too but that is likely 90% of all spam you receive.
Please note, I didn’t change anything in the emails other than links and phone numbers. The emails themselves are as is. You will notice that there are a lot of typos. No, it isn’t because the spammers are stupid. They are stupid but they do it because the spam filters key of certain keywords and this is their way of getting around those filters.
Well I am not wishing spam email a Happy Birthday. It is such a pain for those that regularly use email. The only way to stop it is for people to quit reading it and clicking on any links. Help fight spam email. Do with it like you do with junk mail you receive at home. Throw it away without opening it.
