    Obama Wraps Up The Nomination

    By Bloggaman | June 3, 2008

It hasn’t really been in doubt but Tuesday night Barack Obama made it official, he will be the Democratic nominee in the Presidential election in November. The South Dakota and Montana primaries were held yesterday but that wasn’t all that pushed Obama over the top. The endorsements came in in droves on Tuesday and that helped push Obama close enough to the finish line and it allowed South Dakota and Montana to push him over the top. It was over, finally.

This process started back in Iowa on January 3rd and finally ended on June 3rd. Iowa picked Obama with 38% Barack Obamaof the vote and he followed through to win the nomination. That is something that doesn’t happen often. Iowa has been the lead-off state for as long as I can remember and it isn’t often that they pick the eventual nominee. This time things worked out well.

Now that the nominee has been decided on it is time to look at the Vice President choice. On Tuesday, likely knowing her chances were nearly over, Hillary Clinton did mention she would be open for the VP slot. The pressure is now on Obama to make a good choice for VP. Many people will expect Clinton to get it by default because of her close finish in the primary. That does make sense but Clinton has been harsh on Obama and that is something Obama will take into consideration. If it does end up being Obama/Clinton, I see them as nearly unbeatable, no matter who McCain chooses. I spoke of the other possible VP choices in another article. Check it out if you want to know what the other front runners are.

Now as I write this, you might think that Clinton had actually conceded defeat and cleared the way for Obama to go head to head with McCain. You would be wrong. She has not yet done that. She may tomorrow, she may next week but it hasn’t come yet. She has never given up no matter how things have looked and I guess she isn’t ready to do it now.

Congratulations to Barack Obama. I hope he can take it all the way to the White House. I like what he represents and I think he is the complete opposite of what is currently in the White House. He should be great for the United States and should be able to turn things around. It is too bad that the next President will have such a big job.
