Email about taxes
By Bloggaman | March 19, 2008
I received this email the other day and just wanted to share it since most won’t receive it. The email is below:

Taxes…Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these
statistics enlightening and amazing.
www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html (you can verify the
numbers here)
Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250
It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above
think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest
President ever. If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they
will repeal the Bush tax cuts, and a good portion of the people that
fall into the categories above can’t wait for it to happen. This is
like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of
some money, and they don’t even know what happened.

There was a story written in 1999 that said “For the first time in 25 years, the US Government plans to reduce the size of the national debt.” At the time, they said the deficit was about $3.7 trillion.
Here is a more recent story, 2006, from NPR.org. It states, “Faced with a potential government shutdown, the Senate votes to raise the nation’s debt limit for the fourth time in five years.” It raised the debt limit to $9 trillion because as the story points out, “the debt now stands at more than $8.2 trillion.”.
So yes, our taxes have been cut but as you can see our budget deficit has shot up from $3.7 trillion in 1999 to $8.2 trillion in 2006. Now, according to www.TruthIn2008.org, the federal deficit is over $9 trillion. Our tax cuts are like having a credit card with no credit limit. We just keep piling up the debt and don’t both to see how bad it is. I enjoy the tax cuts just like everyone else but at some point we have to stop the madness and look ahead to the future.
Look at this quote again, “you scam somebody out of some money, and they don’t even know what happened.” As far as I am concerned, we are scamming our kids, our grand kids, and our great-grand kids because at this rate we won’t have anything for them.
