Bloggaman….Who I Am

Since this Blog is still very new I thought it best that I tell a little more about myself. By doing this it will give you an idea of my interests and what you could expect to see on this site.
Politics - Right now I am a supporter of Barack Obama. Back before the primaries started I was actually big into Mitt Romney. I thought he was very presidential and a solid candidate. I think he still is but I believe he turned people off with the money he was throwing out in ads but we will have to wait and see since he has long since dropped out. Barack Obama has been making money like no one ever has but he does another thing too. He goes and talks to people and when he does I really feel they fall in love with what he is.
It is down to Obama, Hillary Clinton and John McCain. One of those three people will be the next President. I believe Obama brings something new to the table. I have a great deal of respect for John McCain also. He is a former POW and a veteran and I have a special place for people that fight for America. I am not a veteran so I appreciate those that are. My problem with McCain is his age. If he is elected he will be 72 when he takes office. If he makes it two terms he will leave office at 80. He definitely needs to pick a young VP if he wants to allay other peoples fears.
I don’t care at all for Hillary Clinton. I was a fan of Bill Clinton but I don’t like Hillary at all. She really doesn’t have a personality unless you count her faking one. Bill had a charisma about him. He could be the life of the party, and I don’t mean because he might be flirting with all the ladies. He just knew how to get along with people. As for Hillary, I think if you want to kill a party you send her and Janet Reno in.
I want Obama first so if it is Obama vs. McCain I am voting Obama. If it is somehow Clinton vs. McCain I am going for McCain.
Sports - When it comes to sports I prefer pro sports when it comes to baseball and football. I love to watch college basketball over pro however. Now is March Madness and it is a fun time for me. I think now, the football playoffs leading up to the Super Bowl and the baseball playoffs leading up to the World Series are the best times to be a sports fan.
As for teams I root for, I am a Chicago fan for everything. I am a diehard Cubs fan, a big Bears fan and I also root for the Bulls and Blackhawks but at a lesser extent. My favorite Bear is Dick Butkus but I really don’t have a favorite Cubs player.
I used to have a blog about the Cubs that was called Cubs Fan Hell. I gave that up and began to write for Chicago Cubs Online. I no longer write for that blog but if you love the Cubs or baseball I would highly recommend this blog. It is one of my favorites and I visit it daily.
Entertainment - I love movies and good TV shows. My favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption. An Officer and a Gentleman, In the Line of Fire, Unfgorgiven, No Country for Old Men and The Fugitive are high on my list too.
As for TV, I like to watch shows like Amazing Race, Survivor, Big Brother and The Apprentice. I enjoy them because I like to watch human nature. I like non-reality shows also and lately started watching Grey’s Anatomy. It is predictable but is a well written show. I also enjoy Criminal Minds. As for the classics I love to watch West Wing, Cheers, M*A*S*H, Seinfeld and The Andy Griffith Show.
Healthcare - I work a full time job so my family and I have healthcare. Too many Americans don’t have Healthcare or have to pay outrageous prices for it. I am a believer in a Universal Healthcare plan for the US. France has a decent one and it could be the closest to what we would want to do. What scares me is our political system. Our congressmen take money from lobbyists and change their beliefs because they need the money to get re-elected. I don’t know if we will ever get there but a Universal Health System would make for a better country. So many people stay in jobs they hate because they need the insurance. For one of the greatest countries in the world we have a health system that ranks in the low 30’s yet we spend the most on Healthcare. France is rated number one.
