Signs You Are Infected With A Virus
By Bloggaman | December 31, 2008 3:00 am
In my new part time job I see a lot, and let me emphasize a lot, of people come in with infected computers. I found a list of common things you might see if you have a virus infection:
- Your computer runs more slowly than normal
- Your computer stops responding or locks up often
- Your computer crashes and restarts every few minutes
- Your computer restarts on its own and then fails to run normally
- Applications on your computer don’t work correctly
- Disks or disk drives are inaccessible
- You can’t print correctly

Does Baseball Need A Salary Cap?

If you aren’t a baseball fan you won’t find much interest in this article but if you root for the underdog, the little guy, the David to someones Goliath, maybe you will. The Goliath I refer to is the New York Yankees, the team with the highest payroll in baseball for as long as I can remember. The team that has taken it even further this year by signing CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett and just a couple days ago, Mark Texeira.
In the last month the Yankees have shelled out $423.5 million for three free agents.

Now 18 Kids And Counting
By Bloggaman | December 23, 2008 3:00 am
There is news out that the Duggar family has grown by one more child, their 18th. The latest child, named Jordyn-Grace Makiya Duggar, was 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20 inches long. I didn’t realize it but the family star in their own TV show on TLC titled, 17 Kids and Counting. I have never seen it but they will be changing that to 18 Kids and Counting.
What is scary is that the father, Jim Bob Duggar is only 43 years old and his wife, Michelle, is a year younger. They would like to have more kids. They have enough for two baseball teams now, might as well go for two football teams next.

Help Me Help You
By Bloggaman | December 22, 2008 3:00 am
Being back on the front lines, so to speak, reminds me how funny it can be. First, we get a number of phone calls from people wanting help. They want us to troubleshoot their problems without seeing exactly what they have, what is going on and without a computer on our end to help us visualize the problem. I have gotten people asking for help setting up their wireless router, one call was in regards to their Internet being slow and another couldn’t get their printer to work. We just don’t have the ability to see what they see and it is very difficult, but not as difficult as some other issues I have seen.

Sock Bush With A Shoe
By Bloggaman | December 20, 2008 3:00 am
It didn’t take long for the incident with George W. Bush and the shoe tosser to get turned into a game. It won’t take over the world like World of Warcraft but it is mildly entertaining. Try it out at http://www.sockandawe.com/. See how many times you can sock him before the clock runs out. My current high score is 14 times.

My New Part Time Job

Background
I have been in the IT field since 1996 when I first got involved doing Technical Support for a software company that I was originally hired to do outbound sales for. I didn’t much like that job so I saw tech support as my way out. I wasn’t all that computer savvy when I tried for the job but I knew enough to get through and I was a good seller, which is what they wanted as I later discovered.

Antivirus 2009 - The Anti-Anti-Virus
By Bloggaman | December 15, 2008 3:00 am
If you have yet to see or hear about Antivirus 2009 I hope you never do. While the software itself looks great and the GUI is very colorful and clean, it will not help protect your computer from viruses. The big reason you won’t be protected is that Antivirus 2009 is actually a virus itself.
